6 in 10 Republicans say Trump likely nominee

More than six in 10 Republican-leaning voters expect Donald Trump to be the GOP presidential nominee, according to a new poll.

{mosads}Sixty-four percent surveyed for the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll released Tuesday say that Trump is likeliest to be the GOP nominee, up 25 points from from November.

Meanwhile, just 12 percent say that rival Ted Cruz is most likely to win the nomination, while 5 percent say Marco Rubio is likeliest to be the nominee.

Trump is battling Cruz in Iowa, where the two are essentially tied in polls ahead of ballots being cast on Monday. Votes will be cast in New Hampshire Feb. 9.

The survey of GOP-leaning voters was conducted Jan. 21–24 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 5.5 points.
