Cruz sells ‘Make Trump Debate Again’ hats
Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign is selling hats that say “Make Trump Debate Again.”
They parody the GOP front-runner’s own caps, which bear his campaign slogan: “Make America Great Again.”
The Cruz hats, available for $25 in his campaign’s online store, are a tongue-in-cheek response to Donald Trump’s plan to boycott Thursday evening’s presidential debate on Fox News.
{mosads}Trump is blaming anchor Megyn Kelly, who is set to co-moderate the event, for his absence, saying she treated him unfairly at a previous debate.
He said Kelly should not be allowed to moderate because she is “biased” and has a “conflict of interest,” but Fox has refused to acquiesce to the front-runner’s demands.
Cruz has repeatedly knocked Trump for saying he will skip the debate, challenging the billionaire businessman to a head-to-head debate on “The Mark Levin Show” earlier this week.
“If Donald is afraid of Megyn Kelly, I would like to invite him on your show to participate in a one-on-one debate between me and Donald, mano a mano,” Cruz said on the show.
He also said Trump was afraid to defend his record just days before the caucuses in Iowa, where he and Cruz are running neck and neck.
Trump mocked Cruz’s debate challenge, asking in a tweet: “Can we do it in Canada?”
Trump has repeatedly questioned Cruz’s eligibility for the presidency because he was born in Canada.
The Thursday night debate will be televised from Des Moines, Iowa.
