Carson: People want president who can ‘think outside the box’

Ben Carson defended his lack of political experience at Thursday night’s GOP debate, saying Americans wants a president who can “think outside the box.”

“I will gladly confess I’m the only one on stage with no political title,” the White House hopeful said. “You won’t hear polished political speak from me, but you will hear the truth.”

{mosads}As a retired neurosurgeon, Carson said his experience with late-night calls make him a viable candidate.

“I’ve had more 2 a.m. phone calls than everybody here put together, making life or death situations,” he said.

“We need people who think out of the box and can solve problems,” Carson continued. “The American people are terrified — that’s why we have this abnormal situation going on right now. We need different solutions.”
