Cruz: Trump is ‘losing it’

Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz on Wednesday tore into rival Donald Trump, saying the billionaire businessman is “losing it” and doesn’t have the right temperament to be president.

“He’s losing it,” Cruz said at a rally in Goffstown, N.H. “We need a commander in chief, not a Twitter-er in chief. We need someone with the judgment and temperament to keep this country safe.

{mosads}“I don’t know anyone who would be comfortable with someone who behaves this way having his finger on the button,” he added. “I mean, we’re liable to wake up one morning and Donald, if he were president, would have nuked Denmark. That’s not the temperament of a leader to keep this country safe.”

Cruz, who on Tuesday evening told Fox News he would “continue to sing Donald’s praises personally,” did not refrain from criticizing Trump on domestic policy disputes, either.

The winner of the Iowa caucuses said Trump is in favor of expanding the government’s role in the healthcare market.

“Donald wants to expand Obamacare so that the federal government is in charge of your doctor and my doctor,” Cruz said. “And he’s entitled to that view. It’s a view that would be very welcome in the Democratic Party. It’s a view that both Hillary [Clinton] and Bernie Sanders would support.

“But it’s the opposite of my view. My view is, if I’m elected president, we’re going to repeal every word of Obamacare,” he added.

The Texas senator also pointed to the real estate mogul’s support of eminent domain.

“He doesn’t want to discuss his support for eminent domain, for taking private property and giving it to giant corporations and casinos,” he said. “So instead he engages in insults. I think the people are interested in substance and record and a positive, optimistic vision.”

Trump has launched a series of attacks against Cruz, accusing the senator of “voter fraud” in the Iowa caucuses.

As Cruz was speaking in New Hampshire, Trump tweeted that “Cruz just lied again.”

“I am, and have been totally against #Obamacare- repeal and replace!” he said in the tweet.
