Poll: Over 3 in 10 ‘scared’ of Clinton, Trump nominations
More than 3 in 10 Americans fear either Republican Donald Trump or Democrat Hillary Clinton winning their party’s presidential nomination, according to a new poll.
About 38 percent of likely voters are “scared” of Trump earning the GOP nomination, per the USA Today/Suffolk University survey released Tuesday.
{mosads}Another 33 percent have the same reaction toward Clinton securing the Democratic nod, pollsters found. Roughly 28 percent, meanwhile, are “scared” of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) beating Clinton for the honor.
Likely voters are also largely negative toward Clinton and Trump’s candidacies, pollsters reported.
Approximately 18 percent are “dissatisfied” with the idea of a Trump nomination, contrasted with 21 percent for Clinton.
About 24 percent would be “satisfied” with Trump becoming the Republican nominee, with 15 percent more “enthusiastic” about that outcome.
Roughly 26 percent would be “satisfied” with Clinton securing the Democratic nod, with 16 percent “enthusiastic” about that scenario.
Sanders receives the most positive assessment of the three 2016 contenders, pollsters noted Tuesday.
About 16 percent would be “enthusiastic” about the independent lawmaker becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, while 31 percent say they would be “satisfied.”
USA Today/Suffolk University conducted its latest sampling of 1,000 likely voters from Feb. 11-15. It has a 3 percent margin of error.
