Cruz attacks Trump University

Ted Cruz warned Donald Trump that the optics of his ongoing fraud lawsuit over his namesake university could doom him if he’s the Republican presidential nominee.

“Marco [Rubio] made reference earlier to the litigation against Trump University, it’s a fraud case. The [judge] scheduled the trial for July,” the Texas senator said Thursday during the GOP debate in Houston.

{mosads}”I want you to think that if this man is the nominee, having the Republican nominee on the stand in court being cross-examined about whether he committed fraud. You don’t think the main-stream media won’t go crazy on that?”

Trump struck back, arguing that the suit is a “nonsense” civil case that he could have settled but is chosing not to.

“Believe me, I’ll win that case, that’s an easy case,” the billionaire said.

CNN reported Wednesday that Trump is on the witness list in the case against Trump University, which alleges that the students were misled about training courses that could cost as much as $35,000.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has also investigated the school.
