Poll: Over 8 in 10 GOP voters say Trump wins nomination

The vast majority of likely Republican voters predict Donald Trump will win the party’s presidential nomination, according to a new poll.

About 81 percent think Trump will be the party’s standard-bearer, according to a Rasmussen Reports survey released Friday.

{mosads}A mere 15 percent, meanwhile,” believe Trump is “unlikely” to win the nomination.

Rasmussen conducted its latest sampling of 1,000 likely voters Feb. 23–24. It has a 3 percentage point margin of error.

Friday’s results show momentum is on Trump’s side heading toward Super Tuesday next week. 

The firm previously found last week that 71 percent of likely Republican voters believe Trump will be their party’s eventual nominee. Pollsters added that 36 percent of that total said Trump’s victory in the GOP presidential primary is “very likely.”

Rasmussen Reports’ first poll including the billionaire found that just 27 percent of likely Republicans voters thought he could lock down their party’s nomination.

Trump retains a nearly 13-point edge over the other Republican contenders nationwide, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.

Voters in 12 states and one U.S. territory cast their votes next Tuesday, the biggest day of the presidential primary so far.
