Pro-Cruz groups launch $2.4 million Super Tuesday ad push

The super-PACs backing Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz are going up with nearly $2.4 million in advertising spending in eight states heading into Super Tuesday next week.

The spending blitz is a final push targeting voters in Southern states where Cruz has his best chance to unseat Donald Trump, the GOP front-runner.

{mosads}Keep the Promise, the collective and individual name of several groups backing Cruz, have put nearly $400,000 on radio ads in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

It has put another $990,000 on initial television ads in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Oklahoma starting Saturday through Tuesday, when those states hold voting.

A pair of 30-second ads released Friday that will air on TV show Cruz arguing that he will not simply “fiddle around the edges” as president and will have “the right judgement” to pick Supreme Court nominees.

Keep the Promise said that it has also put aside an initial $1 million for digital ads targeting conservative voters in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Minnesota.

The digital campaign starts with a 60-second ad portraying the Texas senator as a champion for conservative causes and an ally in the battle to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

“On Super Tuesday, voters can both send a message to Washington AND send a serious, proven conservative to the White House by voting for Cruz,” Kellyanne Conway, the group’s president, said in a statement.
