Rubio insists he’ll still beat Trump

Marco Rubio claims his plan to take down Donald Trump is working, despite not taking a single victory so far in Super Tuesday.

“You see, just five days ago we began to unmask the true nature of the front-runner so far in this race,” Rubio told a cheering crowd at his campaign headquarters in Miami, Fla., on Tuesday night.

{mosads}”Five days ago we began to explain to the American people that Donald Trump is a con artist.

“And in just five days we have seen the impact it is having all across the country. We are seeing in state after state, he loves to talk about polls, we are seeing in state after state his numbers coming down, our numbers going up.”

Rubio hasn’t won a single state contest so far on Tuesday night, with Trump taking five states and Ted Cruz winning two. And even in a key state targeted by the Florida senator’s campaign for victory — Virginia — the billionaire eked out a win by less than 4 percentage points.

If Rubio loses his home state of Florida on March 15, he will struggle to convince Republicans that he has a viable path to the convention.

“We are so excited to be home and we are so excited about what lies ahead for America,” Rubio told his home crowd. “We are so excited about what lies ahead for our campaign.

“And two weeks from tonight, right here in Florida, we are going to send a message loud and clear.

“We are going to send a message that the party of Lincoln and Reagan and the presidency of the United States will never be held by a con artist.”
