Rubio: ‘It’s going to come down to Florida’

{mosads}”It is true, we haven’t done as well in some of those states as we wanted to, but it’s going to come down to Florida for me, and it always has in the presidential races,” the junior senator said on Wednesday night at an MSNBC town hall.

Rubio said that because Florida offers such a large prize — 99 delegates all to the winner — “it has always been a priority.”  

“Even if I had done really well in all of these previous states, if I had not done well in Florida, it would be trouble for our campaign,” he told MSNBC moderator Chuck Todd. 

“So we need to win here. That’s our priority. We’re focused on it like a laser, and we’re going to win. We feel really good about it.” 

Rubio also said that if Florida Republicans cast votes for his rivals, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, those votes are ultimately votes for Donald Trump.  

“In Florida the only one that has any chance of beating Donald Trump is me … If you don’t want Donald Trump to be the nominee, even if you are a supporter of Ted Cruz or even if you’re a supporter of John Kasich, you vote for Marco Rubio because a vote for anyone other than me is a vote for Donald Trump.”
