Trump: Muslims have to report ‘bad ones’
Muslims aren’t doing enough to prevent terrorist attacks, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said Wednesday during an interview with Piers Morgan on “Good Morning Britain.”
{mosads}”When they see trouble, they have to report it. They are not reporting it; they are absolutely not reporting it, and that’s a big problem,” Trump said when asked what his message was for British Muslims following attacks in Brussels.
“It’s like they’re protecting each other, but they’re really doing very bad damage, and they have to open up to society. They have to report the bad ones.”
British Interior Minister Theresa May rebuked those remarks, Reuters reported, calling Trump “just plain wrong” to suggest Muslims have failed to report suspicious activity.
Trump has made a series of controversial remarks about Muslims during his campaign and has called to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.
Following Tuesday’s attacks in Brussels, Trump said the U.S. is “having problems with Muslims” and suggested authorities should watch mosques and “study what is going on.”
Ted Cruz, Trump’s main presidential rival, made similar remarks following the attacks, calling for authorities to monitor Muslims living in the United States.
