Sanders: We have a ‘viable’ path to the nomination
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said Sunday he still has a path to the nomination.
“We do have a viable role,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”
He pointed to California, saying he expects to pick up a lot of delegates there.
{mosads}He also slammed front-runner Hillary Clinton, saying she may not be as strong a candidate against the Republican candidates.
“I think a lot of the delegates, both pledged delegates and superdelegates, are looking at one very important fact: turns out that Hillary Clinton is not all that strong a candidate running against Donald Trump, [Texas Sen.] Ted Cruz or [Ohio Gov.] John Kasich,” he said.
He touted his own poll numbers, both nationally and statewide, saying that in head-to-head match-ups with the Republican candidates, the Vermont senator does better than Clinton.
“I think a lot of people are saying, ‘Well, I may not like Bernie as much as I like Hillary. But at the end of the day, we must defeat Trump,’ ” he said.
“We must not allow a Republican to get into the White House. Some of those people will come over to us as the stronger candidate.”
