Trump calls talk of Cruz/Fiorina ticket ‘cute’

Donald Trump early Wednesday bashed speculation that Republican presidential rival Ted Cruz will name former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina as his running mate before several upcoming primaries are undecided.

“I think it hurts him. I can’t imagine he does it. First of all, he shouldn’t be naming anybody because he doesn’t even have a chance,” Trump said during a phone interview on “Fox and Friends.”

{mosads}”He’s millions of votes behind, he’s hundreds of delegates behind … he’s got no path to victory, and he’s naming a vice presidential candidate. I guess that’s cute,” Trump said.

An aide to Fiorina confirmed to The Hill earlier this week that the former technology executive was being vetted by Cruz as a potential vice presidential pick.

Fiorina was the only woman to compete in the GOP presidential race out of 17 candidates and campaigned for Cruz a month after ending her White House bid in February.

CNN reported Tuesday that Fiorina and a handful of other possible VP picks are submitting their tax returns to Cruz’s campaign as part of the vetting process.

“I think it would be a bad choice. Carly did not resonate at all, not because she’s a woman, but Carly did not resonate at all with people,” Trump said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Trump remarked that Fiorina “had one good debate” before eventually dropping out of the race.
