Clinton campaign adds Ryan to list of Republicans ‘rebuking Trump’
The campaign for Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton added House Speaker Paul Ryan to its list of Republicans who are not endorsing Donald Trump, their party’s presumptive presidential nominee.
{mosads}The campaign had sent out the list of Republicans who aren’t keen on Trump just a day after he essentially secured the nomination and Ted Cruz dropped out of the race.
The updated list came just minutes after CNN aired an interview with Ryan in which he said he is “not ready” to back his party’s presumptive nominee.
“I hope to, though, and I want to,” Ryan said. “But what is required is to unify this party. And the bulk of the burden on unifying the party will have to come from our presumptive nominee.”
Other notable Republicans included on the list: Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and former presidential nominees Mitt Romney and Bob Dole.
“On Tuesday, Donald Trump effectively captured the Republican nomination,” the Clinton email said. “Two days later, as Trump has repeatedly doubled down on his plan to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. and his support for mass deportation of immigrants, prominent activists, journalists, donors and elected officials in his own party continue to figure out what Hillary Clinton has argued all along: Donald Trump is too big a risk for America.”
