Trump to Megyn Kelly: Bullying victims ‘gotta get over it’

Donald Trump says in a new interview with Megyn Kelly that bullying victims must stay strong and retaliate against their attackers.

“People are bullied when they’re 55,” Trump said during a discussion with the Fox News anchor that will air Tuesday evening, according to The Associated Press.

{mosads}“Can happen when you’re 45,” Kelly, who is 45 years old, responded while smiling at the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee.

“You know, it happens, right?” Trump replied. “But you gotta get over it. Fight back, do whatever you have to do.”

Trump recently let Kelly interview him for a segment set to air at 8 p.m. Tuesday on the Fox broadcast network.

The interview came after Kelly met privately with Trump last month in New York City. The meeting was reportedly brokered by Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes.

Kelly angered Trump last August by questioning the billionaire’s past remarks about women during the first Republican presidential debate. Trump responded by challenging Kelly’s journalistic credibility, sparking a monthslong feud between the two.

Kelly on Monday said that Trump must improve his image with women if he wants to win with that voting demographic next November.

“I think that Republican women have warmed a little to Trump, although his favorables, even with Republican women, are still high, unusually high,” Kelly said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“Romney lost to [President Obama] by 11 points with women,” she said, referencing Mitt Romney, the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee. “So the Republican candidate is going to need to be better than Mitt Romney did, although Trump is doing very well with white men, and so [it’s] clearly whether he can make up that difference.

“The question remains whether they’ll vote or if it will impact their vote to have a candidate who speaks in the way that Trump does and has for most of his lifetime about women.”
