Clinton open to businesspeople like Mark Cuban for VP
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton didn’t rule out picking someone like businessman and investor Mark Cuban as her running mate.
{mosads}Cuban has said he is open to the idea of appearing on Clinton’s ticket if she secures the Democratic nomination.
When asked about his overtures on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, Clinton didn’t rule out considering Cuban for the job.
“I think we should look widely and broadly. It’s not just people in elective office. It is successful businesspeople. I am very interested in that. And I appreciate his openness to it,” she said.
Cuban said on “Meet the Press” that he would consider talking with Clinton if she moved more toward the center. But he also said he’d have the same conversation with presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Trump has said he will likely turn to a political veteran to be his running mate, while Clinton said she’d expand her search to include people outside of politics.
“I am absolutely intending to look far and wide,” she said. “And I think that is the best way to find somebody who can really capture what’s needed in the country, and businesspeople have — especially successful businesspeople who are really successful as opposed to pretend successful — I think have a lot to offer.”
