Trump releases video of students defending Trump University
Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday released a video of former students defending Trump University, which is currently the subject of a fraud lawsuit.
The video, titled “Former students speak out in support of Trump University,” features three alumni of the now-defunct school who commend the classes they took and emphasize their successes since.
{mosads}”I was looking for courses that I could learn about the basics of business, such as branding, marketing, finance. In addition, I took some of the real estate courses. I thought maybe the real estate way would be the way for me to go also, to look at investing in real estate,” says Kent Moyer, founder of the World Protection Group.
“And I must tell you that the courses that I took were outstanding.”
Trump University faced a series of legal challenges before shutting down in 2011. Students alleged the program left them with debt and no marketable skills or talent.
A federal judge earlier this week unsealed 381 pages of documents detailing the for-profit program. The documents amount to “playbooks” used by the company to convince prospective students to enroll in the program.
But another student in the video, real estate investor Michelle Gunn, says she never felt pressured to do anything she didn’t want to do or pay for anything she didn’t want to pay for through the training sessions.
“I see and hear that there are former Trump University students coming out and I have to sit back and think to myself if they were given the same information, the same education, the same opportunity, how come they didn’t have the same results,” she said.
“And I think that is because you have to take action upon yourself. You have to go out and make it happen, and apply that, no different to any other education or any other information you may obtain.”
At the end of the video, Gunn said she thinks Trump would make an “excellent” president over a photo of a Trump rally.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton on Wednesday described the controversial Trump University as a “fraudulent scheme” that was “used to prey upon those who could least afford it.”
