Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he envisions a “compromise” agenda with Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
{mosads}Trump praised the Speaker, who endorsed Trump last week, during an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
“He’s a good man. He wants good things for the country. We will agree on many things. We’re not going to agree on all things. But we’re going to agree on many things,” Trump said, pointing to Ryan’s focus on poverty.
When asked if he sees himself implementing Ryan’s agenda as president, Trump said he envisions a compromise.
“I think it’s going to be a compromise, honestly. I can see a compromise.”
Trump did, however, acknowledge “some differences” with Ryan on issues including trade, entitlements and immigration.
“I mean, to be honest, we’ve spoken about it very briefly. They’re big subjects,” he said.
“You know what my deal is on trade? I want good deals. That’s what my deal is. When somebody says, ‘What is your position on trade?’ I said, ‘I want good deals. Whether it’s free trade, not free trade, I don’t care what kind of trade it is, I want good deals for our country.’ “
