An influential conservative Republican said on Thursday that he wants to see Donald Trump focus on issues that matter to Americans instead of “trash talk.”
{mosads}“What we need to see is him to talk about the direction he wants to lead the country,” Rep. Bill Flores (R-Texas) said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “Seventy percent of voters are frustrated with the direction of the country and so Donald Trump has the ideal environment to talk about his vision, his leadership, and also to talk about (how) Hillary Clinton would be a continuation of the Barack Obama years.”
“Those are the things he needs to talk about,” he added. “He’s not running against the judge, he’s running against Hillary Clinton and that’s where he needs to maintain his focus. So leadership, vision and a whole lot less trash talk.”
Flores, who is chairman of the Republican Study Committee, said on Wednesday that he is not ready to endorse his party’s presumptive nominee.
