Trump still taking fired campaign manager’s advice: report

Donald Trump fired his former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski in June, but he’s still taking his advice, according to a new New York Magazine report

Lewandowski reportedly told Trump not to apologize after the presumptive Republican nominee faced backlash for tweeting an image of Hillary Clinton and a six-sided star like the Star of David on a pile of cash. Many deemed the image “anti-Semitic.”

{mosads}The CNN pundit also pressured Trump to pick New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as a running mate, the report said, while campaign chairman Paul Manafort wanted the presumptive nominee to choose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence — which he did.

Lewandowski had jostled for influence with campaign chairman Paul Manafort, whose arrival in the campaign provoked immediate stories about tensions between the two that continued even after Lewandowski was fired in June.

CNN has faced backlash for hiring Lewandowski as a pundit shortly after he was fired by the Trump campaign.

The scrutiny intensified when it was revealed earlier this week that Lewandowski is still being paid severance by Trump’s campaign.
