The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee says the Democratic National Convention will boast more diversity than the GOP’s version.
“You’ll see the kind of diversity that is not reflected here at the Republican National Convention,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said Tuesday on Fox Business Network.
{mosads}“First of all, we’re going to make history by nominating the first woman to be the nominee of a major party,” Wasserman Schultz added of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. “That will lead to the first woman president being elected.”
Wasserman Schultz said the Republican National Convention so far proves Donald Trump is not ready for the demands of the presidency.
“There’s a real issue with Donald Trump’s personal preparation to be president and the organization behind him,” she said.
“His campaign is not ready for primetime,” Wasserman Schultz added of the presumptive Republican nominee. “They’re clearly unprepared. There’s chaos reigning on the convention floor.
“America is better than this. Better than the bigotry, misogyny, the utter lack of preparation and the jeopardy a Donald Trump presidency will put America in across the world.”
The GOP convention opened in Cleveland on Monday with a lineup boasting several minority speakers.
Televangelist Mark Burns, Wisconsin Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. and Hispanic activist Rachel Campos-Duffy each gave speeches during Monday’s festivities.
Former GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson, who is African-American, is scheduled as a headline speaker Tuesday evening.
