Donald Trump’s son, Eric, is calling Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) “classless” for refusing to endorse the GOP presidential nominee.
{mosads}“If you’re going to go to a convention, you either go to support or you don’t go at all,” Eric Trump said early Thursday on “CBS This Morning.” “It’s Politician 101, right? It was unbelievable.”
Cruz declined to endorse Donald Trump during his dramatic speech at the Republican National Convention late Wednesday.
“To those listening, please, don’t stay home in November,” he said, pausing for cheers during the event in Cleveland.
“Stand and speak and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.”
Cruz mentioned Donald Trump just once in his remarks, praising his former presidential primary rival’s success in the primaries.
“I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night,” he said.
Cruz’s comments were greeted by deafening boos from the convention floor, raising questions as to whether the GOP can unite around Donald Trump’s bid.
Eric Trump on Thursday said he was surprised by both Cruz’s decision and the fierce response it received from GOP delegates.
“I mean, how do you get booed out of your own convention, by your own party and your own delegation? I think the people in the arena spoke for themselves. I don’t even have much comment on it.”
