Donald Trump on Friday heaped praise on this week’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland as “peaceful” and “love-filled,” one day after officially accepting the GOP presidential nomination.
“This was probably one of the most peaceful, most beautiful, most love-filled conventions in the history of conventions,” Trump said at a Friday morning press conference with running mate Mike Pence by his side.
{mosads}Trump bragged that the convention helped achieve party unity, though he made an indirect reference to former primary rival Ted Cruz, who declined to endorse Trump during his Wednesday night speech.
“The party has just come together,” Trump said, adding that there are “a few people who aren’t there, that’s OK.”
“Somebody got booed out of the place by thousands and thousands of people,” he added.
Trump noted that in the weeks leading up to the convention, people were expecting huge riots, but the protests throughout the week were relatively peaceful and Cleveland police yesterday called the week a “success.”
