RNC chairman: We’ll support Trump on debate schedule protest

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus said he will stand by Donald Trump in his protest of the presidential debate schedule.

{mosads}”We’re not going to agree with anything our nominee doesn’t agree with,” Priebus said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“We’re not going to be having debates on Saturday and Sunday night.”

Trump, the GOP’s presidential nominee, has expressed concerns that two of the debate dates collide with NFL games. The schedule, in place since last September, was set by a bipartisan presidential debate commission.

“Certainly, the RNC is going to be involved in supporting our nominee and his position on this,” Priebus said, suggesting the debates take place on a Tuesday, Thursday or Wednesday nights instead.

Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort also said on “Face the Nation” Sunday that the campaign will meet with the commission to discuss alternatives.
