Clinton: I take Trump shorting contractors ‘personally’
Hillary Clinton on Thursday stepped up her attacks on Donald Trump outsourcing jobs and shorting contractors, saying she takes this “personally” as a daughter of a contractor and small businessman.
{mosads}The Democratic nominee was responding to a question from a reporter after her tour of Mojave Electric Co. LLC in Las Vegas and blasted the GOP nominee for not employing American workers at his businesses.
“He’s imported foreign workers instead of hiring Americans at his country clubs and resorts, he has cheated contractors,” Clinton said.
“I take that personally,” she continued. “My father was a small businessman and he got contracts and if he showed up after having done all the work… and was told as Donald Trump told countless small businesses I’m not going to pay you, I don’t know what would have happened to our family.”
Clinton added that she’s spoken to those who have worked for the real estate mogul and said he should be held accountable for what he’s already done.
“I’ve met people who were destroyed by Donald Trump, so take a look at what he has done, not what he’s said,” Clinton said.
The former secretary of State has been honing her economic message and drawing contrasts with Trump in recent days during campaign stops.
Her campaign launched new TV ads on Wednesday that knocked him for outsourcing jobs overseas and touted her job-creation plan.
