Primary challenger says people like Paul Ryan have ‘hijacked’ America

House Speaker Paul Ryan’s primary challenger said Monday it’s people like the Wisconsin Republican who “have hijacked this great country of ours from us.”

{mosads}Businessman Paul Nehlen’s Monday interview with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM comes one day before his long-shot primary challenge against Ryan, who has served in Congress since 1999.

“It’s people like Paul Ryan who have hijacked this great country of ours from us,” Nehlen said.

“It’s absolutely criminal what these guys are doing,” he continued, citing the omnibus spending bill and the Puerto Rico debt relief bill that was signed into law by President Obama in late June.

Nehlen, who’s aligned himself with GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, said the presidential race and his congressional race are centered around the fact that the American people are repeatedly being lied to. 

He said the “movement” is about taking back control from politicians “who should have never had it in the first place.”

“Neither of these races are about the two of us,” Nehlen said. “These races are about people getting lied to over and over and over again.”

“This is absolutely igniting exactly what we wanted … our country back,” he continued. “This is absolutely our opportunity to seize the levers of power back from those who should have never had it in the first place.”

Ryan is expected to easily win his primary with Nehlen on Tuesday. 

A poll released last week found the Speaker leading by 66 points.

After a week of tension with Trump, who initially said he wasn’t ready to endorse Ryan, the real estate mogul changed his tune and backed the Speaker during his rally in Green Bay, Wis., on Friday.
