Giuliani: If Trump fans thought he meant violence, ‘they’d have gone wild’

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday defended Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about Hillary Clinton and the Second Amendment, saying Trump clearly was not talking about violence.

{mosads}The Republican presidential nominee on Tuesday appeared to joke at a campaign rally about the possibility that gun rights supporters might take action against Clinton, his Democratic opponent.

“We know Donald Trump is not particularly indirect. If Donald Trump was going to say something like that, he’d say something like that,” Giuliani told “Good Morning America.”

“You know how speeches go. He was talking about how they [gun rights advocates] have the power to keep her out of office. That’s what he was talking about. With a crowd like that, if that’s what they thought he’d meant, they’d have gone wild.”

Trump grabbed headlines Tuesday when he talked about the type of judges Clinton would appoint as president.

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the Second Amendment folks, maybe there is. I don’t know,” Trump said.

Trump stood by his remarks in an interview with Fox News later that day.

“There can be no other interpretation. I mean, give me a break.”
