Trump: I want to do debates if there’s a ‘fair moderator’

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday said he “certainly” wants to take part in the presidential debates this fall, but he wants to see a fair moderator.

{mosads}”That’s all I’m looking for,” he told Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren.

“Because we have a lot of very unfair people treating us, as Republicans and as conservatives. If you’re a Republican and a conservative, you get very unfair treatment.”

The GOP nominee said he did “very well” in the primary debates.

“Otherwise I wouldn’t be sitting here,” he said.

“I think we’re going to have very good debates.”

He added that he doesn’t think the presidential debates should be scheduled alongside NFL games.

“Probably Hillary Clinton would like that, but I don’t think they should be opposite NFL games, and I want to see a fair moderator and whatever else we’ll look at,” he said, referring to the Democratic presidential nominee.

“But certainly I want to do the debates.”

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and a couple of other members of Trump’s team will be working with the debate commission, Trump said.

“I just think we should have them similar maybe to what we did with the Republican debates, except there’ll be two people instead of, ultimately, there were 17, I guess,” he said.

“But I think that debates between the two of us would be very good. I think it’d be very interesting. I think it’s going to be very revealing for the public, and I look forward to it, but I would think something like what we had with the Republican debates or what they had with the Democrat debates.”

Trump said earlier this week he “absolutely” would do three debates but first needs to see the conditions.
