Poll: Clinton leads Trump by 9 points in New Mexico

Hillary Clinton has a 9-point lead over Donald Trump in New Mexico, according to a new poll.

Clinton tops Trump, 40  to 31 percent, in the Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released Wednesday.

{mosads}Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson, a former two-term GOP governor of the state, is third with 16 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein has 4 percent. Another 9 percent of voters remain undecided.

PPP questioned 1,103 New Mexico voter from Aug. 19-21. It did not list a margin of error for the survey.

The May edition of PPP’s poll in New Mexico  found Clinton at 41 percent, Trump’s 33 percent and Johnson at 14 percent. Stein was not included in that sampling.

Clinton leads Trump by about 6 points nationwide, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.

Clinton’s lead shrinks when Johnson and Stein enter the fray, however. She leads Trump by roughly 4 points in that scenario.
