Pence says he’ll release tax returns next week
Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said he will release his tax returns next week as GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump continues to withhold his own tax information.
{mosads}”Donald Trump and I are both going to release our tax returns. I’ll release mine in the next week,” the Indiana governor said in an interview to air Sunday on “Meet the Press.”
When asked when Trump would release his, Pence said Trump would be “releasing his tax returns at the completion of an audit” and “we’ll see” if that comes before the general election in November.
Trump has long said he won’t release his tax returns because they’re being audited by the Internal Revenue Service, but the agency said the audit doesn’t preclude him from doing so. He has also refused to release older tax documents that are no longer under audit.
Trump has pushed back in recent months on calls from Democrats and some Republicans, namely former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, to release his tax returns.
