‘Art of the Deal’ ghostwriter offers to donate his royalties

The co-author of Donald Trump’s bestselling book “The Art of the Deal” says he is open to donating his royalties to those harmed by the Republican presidential nominee.

{mosads}Schwartz has morphed into a fierce critic of Trump after collaborating with the billionaire on the 1987 book.

Schwartz said in July, for example, he is horrified Trump may ultimately win the presidency.

“It’s a terrifying thing,” he said on July 18 during an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “I never in a million years thought he would run for president.

“I haven’t slept a night through since Donald Trump announced for president because I believe he is so insecure, so easily provoked and not particularly nearly as smart as people might imagine he is.”

Schwartz also said later that month the Trump Organization had sent him a cease-and-desist letter.

The message reportedly demanded Schwartz return all of his royalty payments he had received from “The Art of the Deal.”

“I got almost immediately that cease-and-desist letter delivered to me by FedEx and you know, it’s nuts and completely indicative of who he is,” Schwartz said on July 20.

Last month, reports emerged that Trump had spent $55,000 in campaign donations on copies of the book for supporters, raising concerns that he was using political funds for personal gain.
