Clinton pledges bipartisanship in new ad

Hillary Clinton says in a new campaign ad she will make bipartisanship a hallmark of her presidency if elected.

“Donald Trump says he alone can fix the problems we face,” she says in the spot released Friday. “Well, I don’t believe that’s how you get things done in our country. It takes Democrats and Republicans working together.”

{mosads}Clinton then highlights some of her achievements in public office after reaching out across the aisle to GOP lawmakers.

“That’s how we got healthcare for 8 million kids, rebuilt New York City after 9/11 and got the treaty cutting Russia’s nuclear arms,” she says. “That’s how you solve problems. And that’s what I’ll do as president.”

Clinton’s campaign said the television spot will air in existing broadcast and cable campaigns across seven battleground states.

The commercial is hitting airwaves in Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Clinton’s campaign added she also plans on participating in a “working session” Friday with a bipartisan mix of foreign policy and national security experts.

Friday’s session aims at finding strategies for countering terrorism, including lone-wolf extremists, cyberattacks and nuclear proliferation. 

Trump defeated 16 other candidates in what was a crowded and often bruising Republican presidential primary.

Clinton has since courted Republicans who are dissatisfied with Trump’s lack of political experience, blunt rhetoric and temperament. 

A member of former President George H.W. Bush’s cabinet, for example, on Wednesday revealed he is backing Clinton over Trump. 

Several recent polls show a tightening race between Clinton and Trump for the presidency at both the national and state level.

Clinton leads Trump by about 3 points nationwide, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.
