Trump: Terrorists ‘dream’ of a Clinton presidency
Donald Trump says terrorists “dream” of Hillary Clinton winning the presidency because of her opposition to sending troops to fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Trump on Friday blamed Clinton’s tenure as secretary of State for leading to ISIS’s rise and ripped her for promising to not use ground forces to fight the terror group.
{mosads}”Even if you don’t want them, don’t say it,” Trump said told the Values Voter Summit, an annual evangelical political convention in Washington.
“Now they are saying, ‘I hope she wins.’ Oh boy, would they dream of having her as president. They dream all night of having Hillary Clinton.”
Trump has been reluctant to share his strategy to defeat ISIS, arguing that America shouldn’t telegraph its punches. That’s drawn the ire of Democrats, who have argued he doesn’t have a plan.
Joking about the high morality of the crowd, he said he hoped his push for dishonesty wouldn’t hurt him.
“I hate to say this because we have a lot of evangelicals in this room, but maybe we shouldn’t be so honest when it comes to military strategy,” he said with a smile.
Trump made the remark a day after Clinton told an Israeli news outlet that terrorists are praying for Trump to win.
