Jim Gilmore officially endorses Trump

Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore on Friday officially endorsed Donald Trump, though he has been a vocal supporter of the Republican nominee for months.

{mosads}“I want to clear up any confusion that may exist about my position on the November election,” Gilmore said in a Facebook post.

“While I hadn’t been formally asked to do so, today I wanted to make clear that I endorse the Republican nominee, Donald Trump for the Presidency and I urge every voter in the Commonwealth of Virginia to join me in doing so.”

Gilmore went on to detail the myriad of ways he has helped the Trump campaign, including serving on its agricultural committee and stumping for the mogul throughout Virginia — though he maintains that he hadn’t officially endorse Trump until now. He also mentions serving on a campaign committee “that hasn’t been announced yet.”

“With my time and my sweat equity, I have endorsed Mr. Trump against Hillary Clinton and to clear up any confusion, I do so again with this statement,” he said.

Gilmore, who dropped out of the Republican presidential primary in February, is scheduled to appear with Gov. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) on Saturday at a rally in Paris, Va.
