Trump ‘really proud’ of role in reducing trust in media

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Thursday took some credit for reducing Americans’ trust in news outlets.

{mosads}“The media has openly been dishonest and I look at that poll and I said, ‘Wow.’ Because every speech I talk about it,” Trump told New York radio host Fred Dicker, according to Business Insider.

“And I have tens of thousands of people showing up to these speeches and they are on television.”

Trump was referencing a recent Gallup poll that showed trust in the media had reached an all-time low.

The study showed Americans’ trust and confidence in the media “to report the news fully, accurately and fairly” dropped to 32 percent.

Those who identify as Republicans have a more negative view of the media than Democrats, according to the poll.

During the interview on Thursday, Trump specifically slammed CNN, calling it “unbelievably dishonest” and “a joke.”

“And that’s why their ratings are terrible. So it’s really been amazing,” Trump said.

“I am really proud to say that I think I had a lot to do with that poll number.”

On the campaign trail, Trump often rails against the media, characterizing reporters as dishonest and biased.
