Republican Women for Hillary aim to ‘protect GOP from Trump’

A group of conservative women are beefing up their efforts in battleground states to elect Hillary Clinton the next president.

{mosads}The group Republican Women for Hillary say they are uniting behind the Democratic presidential nominee in an effort to “protect the Republican party from further damage by Donald Trump,” who they say has repeatedly insulted women on the campaign trail.

“Many Republican women are uniting in support of Hillary Clinton,” said Jennifer Pierotti Lim, the group’s founder. “We look forward to working with them in the coming months to make sure that she is the next president.”

A similar party-defecting trend in the 1980s led to the Reagan Democrats movement that encouraged liberals to vote for the popular Republican president.

Republican Women for Hillary announced Thursday it is expanding its efforts in Florida, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia, Georgia and Utah, where a new batch of state leaders will organize events, write letters and help to get out the vote in favor of Clinton.

The group hopes to provide “Republican women with a voice in the 2016 presidential election.”

“It is now more important than ever that Republican women stand up and declare that Trump does not represent the GOP or America,” the group said.
