Clinton criticizes Trump comments on Iran
Hillary Clinton chastised Donald Trump on Thursday for saying that he would order the Navy to fire on confrontational Iranian ships.
Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, in her first campaign appearance since she fell ill, framed the Republican nominee as a loose cannon.
{mosads}“He said that if another country’s troops taunted ours, not fired on, just taunts, he would respond by blowing them out of the water,” she said during a rally in Greensboro, N.C.
“He would start a war on that. That’s just one more reason why the stakes in this election are as high as any in our lifetimes.”
Trump made those comments last Friday during a rally in Florida, an off-script aside just days after Iranian attack boats harassed an American destroyer.
“With Iran, when they circle our beautiful destroyers with their little boats and they make gestures at our people that they shouldn’t be allowed to make, they will be shot out of the water,” Trump said.
