Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence said on Thursday that Democrats’ attacks on Donald Trump show that they’re getting desperate.
{mosads}During an interview on CNN’s “OutFront,” Pence lashed out at Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who earlier in the day on the Senate floor called Trump a “spoiled brat” and a “con artist.”
“I think those remarks are beneath the dignity of the United States Senate,” the Indiana governor said. “Look, to be honest with you, I’m starting to get a whiff of desperation from the other side. It seems like the attacks are getting a little more intense.”
Reid tore into Trump after Newsweek reported that the Trump Organization has foreign ties that could create a conflict of interest for him if he serves in the Oval Office.
“We face through Donald Trump a candidate, a notorious con artist. Donald Trump is only trying to help one person: Donald Trump,” Reid said. “Given the opportunity, Donald Trump will turn America into a big scam, just like Trump University.”
“Why would he change as president? The answer is simple: Trump won’t change. He is asking us to let him get rich scamming America,” he added. “We can’t chance the sovereignty of this country on a con man like Trump.”
