Backdrop at Trump event collapses after speech
The backdrop for Donald Trump’s campaign event in Washington on Friday collapsed shortly after the GOP presidential nominee finished speaking.
{mosads}The blue backdrop, branded with Trump’s name, crashed down several minutes after Trump and his guests left, according to reporters present. No injuries were reported.
Trump had used the event to talk about his new hotel and highlight support from veterans before briefly reading a four-sentence statement acknowledging President Obama was born in the U.S. Trump left without taking reporter questions. Journalists lashed out at Trump afterward for using the promise of a “major announcement” to get free airtime on cable news.
