EMILY’s List launching pitch for female president
{mosads}Though the group has not yet endorsed any candidate for the next presidential race, the most likely potential presidential contender to receive their backing is Hillary Clinton, the front-runner in the Democratic field, according to most polls of the race.
EMILY’s List is revealing polling on Thursday that it says indicates the country is ready for a female president. Clinton has not yet indicated she intends to run, but Democrats believe she’s one of the most likely candidates.
While they wait for a female candidate to enter the race — other Democratic women, including New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, have also been touted as potential 2016 recruits — EMILY’s List is working to pave the way with pro-female-candidate advertising.
They’re spending six figures on the campaign overall, and will run a video featuring young girls “campaigning” for president, following the election of a hypothetical female president in the near future.
“They shattered expectations, they broke all the glass ceilings,” one girl says in the video of the women that came before her.
EMILY’s List says it will target the video to women-centric sites, including Oprah’s, HelloGiggles, The New York Times, New York Magazine, Feministing and BlogHer.
