Trump adviser: He should apologize to former Miss Universe

A top adviser to Donald Trump thinks the Republican presidential nominee should apologize for allegedly calling a former Miss Universe “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping,” if those comments “are accurate.”

{mosads}“I think an apology would be appropriate,” Sarah Huckabee Sanders told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Tuesday, according to the Washington Examiner

But Huckabee Sanders said Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s recent remark that half of Trump’s supporters belong in a “basket of deplorables” is more troubling.

“Look, I don’t like the name-calling,” she said. “But I’m far more offended as a woman and a Donald Trump supporter by what Hillary Clinton said when she called me deplorable and irredeemable. I think those are far worse attacks, and I think that is certainly an issue that should have come up in the debate last night.”

Alicia Machado, a former winner of the Miss Universe pageant, claims Trump insulted her. Clinton brought up those remarks during Monday night’s debate.

“One of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest … and he called this woman ‘Miss Piggy,’ then he called her ‘Miss Housekeeping’ because she was Latina. Donald, she has a name,” Clinton said.

“Her name is Alicia Machado, and she has become a U.S. citizen, and you can bet she’s going to vote this November.”

Clinton’s campaign released a Spanish-language video featuring Machado on Tuesday.
