Trump deposition video to be released

Video of Donald Trump testifying under oath about derogatory comments he’s made about Hispanics will be released as soon as Friday, according to Politico.

{mosads}D.C. Superior Court Judge Brian Holeman on Thursday night ordered that the deposition be made public, rejecting Trump’s attorneys’ argument that the footage would be used in campaign commercials against the real estate mogul.

“This Court finds that Plaintiff has not demonstrated that any subject video deposition contains scandalous, libelous, or other unduly prejudicial material warranting denial of media access,” the judge wrote.

“The public shall not be held captive by the suggested eventuality of partisan editing in a manner unfavorable to Plaintiff or the deponents.”

Trump was deposed in June in a lawsuit he filed against two chefs who backed out of a deal to open a restaurant at his new Washington hotel, citing his rhetoric toward Mexicans.

Transcripts of the testimony are already public, but a group of media outlets filed motions asking Holeman to release the video.

Holeman said his decision was due in part to the fact that the case is unlikely to be tried in front of a jury.

“Here, in the absence of a jury trial, any concerns of undue prejudice arising from selection of jurors are baseless,” Holeman wrote.
