Obama’s approval rating reaches new high
President Obama’s popularity is reaching new heights.
{mosads}Obama’s job approval rating is 55 percent in a new CNN/ORC poll released Thursday — the highest it’s been in that poll at any point during his second term.
The president’s job approval is up 4 points from last month’s edition of the poll and 11 points from this time last year.
The latest result comes amid a series of good polling for Obama. A Washington Post-ABC News poll released last month gave Obama a 58 percent approval rating — the highest he had been in that poll since 2009.
The president’s approval rating is 89 percent among Democrats and 56 percent among independents, the CNN/ORC poll found.
And his popularity among white voters has improved. In the past year, the number has climbed from 32 percent approval to 47 percent.
The CNN/ORC poll was conducted from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 among 1,501 adults. It has a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
