Clinton campaign expects focused Trump at debate

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign is setting expectations for the next debate, saying it expects a more focused and prepared Donald Trump to show up for round two.

{mosads}”We’ve been told by his campaign that he has been preparing pretty intensively with Gov. Christie and others,” Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said on a press call with reporters Thursday.

“We do expect Donald Trump to come much better prepared to this debate.”

At the same time, Mook questioned if the Republican nominee will propose any solutions or address questions in the town-hall style debate with any depth.

“The big question is will Trump come with any specific plans? Will he have command of the issues? Can he really address peoples’ questions and explain to them how we will in fact make a difference?

“We are eager to see if he can demonstrate an ability to be steady and not unravel and unwind like he did an hour into the last debate.”

And while Trump has threatened to bring up Bill Clinton’s past during a debate, Mook said the campaign doesn’t expect him to follow through.

“We do not necessarily expect him to come with the kind of personal and harsh attacks that he has been threatening and his campaign has implied,” Mook said.
