Mike Pence is calling the firebombing of a county GOP headquarters in North Carolina an “act of political terrorism.”
{mosads}On Tuesday afternoon, the GOP vice presidential nominee and his wife visited the site in Hillsborough, N.C., ahead of his two rallies in the battleground state.
“My wife and I were in North Carolina today, and I wanted to call attention to this cowardly attack on our supporters in North Carolina and to no less extent an attack on the American political system,” Pence said outside of the office.
“This was an act of political terrorism,” he added.
On Sunday, a bottle of flammable liquid was thrown into the building housing the North Carolina Orange County GOP headquarters, according to The Charlotte Observer. A state GOP official also called it an act of “political terrorism.”
Later that night, Trump blamed the firebombing on supporters of his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.
“Animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina just firebombed our office in Orange County because we are winning @NCGOP,” Trump tweeted.
Clinton also condemned the attack, calling it “horrific and unacceptable” in a tweet on Sunday.
