Univision anchor: Trump’s deportation plan ‘a horror’

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos says Donald Trump’s pledge to deport immigrants in the United States illegally is frightening.

“He wants to deport 11 million people,” he told host Stephen Colbert on CBS’s “The Late Show” Thursday. “That’s absolutely insane; that’s a horror.

{mosads}“Can you imagine deporting 11 million people in two years? That’s deporting 50,000 people every single day, filling up 30 747s in 24 hours. He could start a new airline with that. ‘Trump Airlines: We’ll send you back.’”

Ramos criticized Trump for calling some illegal immigrants “bad hombres” during last Wednesday’s presidential debate.

“Don’t say ‘bad hombre,’ please. It’s a stereotype. The immigrant community is full of ‘buenos hombres,’ not ‘bad hombres.’”

Ramos said Trump, the GOP’s presidential nominee, has elevated racist and white supremacist rhetoric to national prominence.

“It exists right now, but he has allowed white supremacist groups and neo-Nazis to express opinions and prejudices that before, they were only saying to themselves in their parties or in their bedrooms. Now it’s outside. It’s all over the place.”

Trump said during the debate that illegal immigration has resulted in some “bad hombres” coming to the country.

“We have some bad, bad people in this country we that have to go out,” he said in Las Vegas, citing “drug lords” as an example.

“We are going to get them out, secure the border, and once the border is secure, at a later date, we will make a determination as to the rest. But we have some bad hombres here, and we are going to get them out.”
