David Duke: ‘Our people’ responsible for Trump success
White supremacist David Duke took credit early on Wednesday morning for Donald Trump’s stunning victory over Hillary Clinton.
{mosads}Duke, a former grand wizard with the Ku Klux Klan who launched an unsuccessful run for a Senate seat from Louisiana this year, took to Twitter shortly before the Associated Press called the presidential race for Trump.
This is one of the most exciting nights of my life -> make no mistake about it, our people have played a HUGE role in electing Trump! #MAGA pic.twitter.com/HvJyiJYuVa

White nationalists such as Duke were enthusiastic supporters of Trump throughout his unorthodox campaign, though the Republican real estate mogul had disavowed their support.
Clinton’s campaign had tried to tie Trump to Duke and other extremists, but the effort was unsuccessful in preventing Trump was winning the White House.
Duke, a Republican, received just 3 percent of the vote in the Louisiana race, which is headed to a runoff in December. The seat was left open after Sen. David Vitter (R) decided not to run for reelection.
