Poll: Voters blame GOP more than Obama for gridlock

When asked who is doing too little to compromise with the other side, 68 percent say congressional Republicans while 53 percent say Obama.

{mosads}There’s plenty of blame to go around, however — 68 percent say both parties are equally to blame for the ongoing gridlock in Congress, while 23 percent blame Republicans and 10 percent blame Obama.

Voters are pessimistic Congress will be able to compromise on immigration reform — 69 percent believe the two chambers won’t find agreement, while 27 percent think they will.

Democrats lead in Quinnipiac’s generic congressional poll by 39 percent to 34 percent. Hillary Clinton leads New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) by 46 percent to 40 percent if both ran for president and leads Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) by 50 percent to 38 percent, while Vice President Biden trails Christie by 46 percent to 35 percent and is tied with Paul at 42 percent apiece.

The live-caller poll of 2,018 registered voters was conducted from June 28-July 8 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.
