Ron Paul says no to 2016 presidential run
{mosads}”No I do not. I do not have any plans like that,” he wrote in response to a question submitted on the social media platform Reddit on whether he’d run again for president in 2016.
“I am going to pursue what I have been doing since the 1970s which is to promote the cause of liberty — the format and the technique will be different,” he added.
But he didn’t entirely close the door on a run. He closed his answer by stating, “I have no plans to run for office at this time.”
The former presidential contender caught fire early on in the Republican primary after strong finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire, but his support and funds eventually ran out. He had run for president twice prior to 2012.
Paul’s son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), has carried the Paul mantle in Congress since his father’s retirement at the end of his last term. The younger Paul is expected to launch his own bid for president in 2016.
Ron Paul recently launched RonPaulChannel.com, where he features interviews he’s conducted with libertarian-minded newsmakers and activists, as well as his own discourses on libertarian issues.
