Deb Fischer launches first Senate ad in Nebraska

A campaign aide a media buy for $30,000-$35,000 was still being finalized. A GOP source tracking the ad market in Nebraska said Fischer’s team had purchased $30,000 of airtime for one week on cable stations in the Lincoln, Neb. and Omaha, Neb. markets.

The ad shows Fischer herding cattle and standing in a field as it recounts her background as a small-business rancher and state lawmaker.

“Deb Fischer is a Nebraskan, conservative backbone, character,” says the narrator. “One hundred percent pro-life.”

The ad also touts her A+ rating from the National Rifle Association and her work to lower taxes in Nebraska.

“America faces big challenges and career politicians are to blame,” the ad says. “Deb Fischer wants to change that by cutting spending, a balanced budget, repeal Obamacare.”

{mosads}Fischer is running behind state Attorney General Jon Bruning and state Treasurer Don Stenberg in the Republican primary. The winner will face former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.) in the general election, where polling shows the Republican nominee will be favored to win.

Fischer had struggled to attract attention and raise money, and had just over $200,000 in the bank at the end of 2011. Bruning has already been on the air with television ads, and a PAC controlled by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) has aired ads supporting Stenberg.
